208. NHS Art Students....THANKS!

Thanks to all of you who so enthusiastically participated in creating a lock or key today!  It was so much fun for me.  I especially loved seeing you all pick out the elements that you chose for your pieces, as well as the creative process involved in putting it all together.  I'll attach the locks and keys to the fence tomorrow, photograph them then.   I am hoping to get all the photos and verse logged in to the master spreadsheet tomorrow (a slow and painful process, but completely necessary), then posted online by Saturday or Sunday at the latest.  Keep checking back, and PLEASE, once they are posted, leave comments, thoughts and reactions to your classmates creations.  Remember, it's all anonymous!

Thanks for having me in your class today!

202. Attention: NHS Art Students

Hi NHS Students,
I am so excited that we are going to be working on this project together next week!

As you look through the blog and are planning what you will be doing with your locks and keys, also think about items you may want to add to your own project next week:  photos, charms, poems, jewelry, or really, any kind of keepsake.  The more personal items that you add the more it's "YOU"!  I will provide the basics: locks, keys, cards/tags to write on, permanent markers, paper clips, etc.  You bring your creativity and energy!
Everything hung on the fence is FABULOUS, and please take your time looking through the blog.  I've noted a few post #'s here that show a wide variety of ideas:

200. On The Fence 12-06-10

In Loving Memory
God saw she was getting tired
And a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around her
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer
And saw her fade away,
Although we loved her dearly
We could not make her stay.
A gold heart stopped beating
hard working hand to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

187. Damaged/Missing Art......

Ginger found a portion of this piece laying in the alley, and the rest of it is completely missing from the fence!  I don't know if it was jostled during the move, or the string it was attached with just deteriorated from the weather, but it's gone.  If this is YOUR piece, I'm so sorry. I know that it was placed on the fence over the Natick Artists Open Studios weekend, October 16th or 17th.  Please c'mon back and re-create, or start over with a new thought.  This was such a WONDERFUL and CREATIVE addition!

182. Moved The Fence..........

Yesterday, Steve, Ginger and I moved the fence!  It was definitely a labor of love, but well worth it.  Because the bottom of the fence was so close to the ground, we thought it might be harmed by both the snow and snow plows, so up, up, up it went!

First, I cut up a piece of blue tarp to the size of the fence, and put grommets all around the edges. I felt like I needed the tarp behind the fence to give me a good background to photograph the locks and keys. While the tarp was temporarily tied to the top railing of the entrance porch, I snipped the wire from around the MASSIVE staples we used to attach the fence initially.  Once the fence was completely released from the lower part of the porch, Steve and Ginger lifted and held it up, while I tied it to the top railing.  Now, both the tarp and the fence are on the upper railing.  We all decided it actually looked better now that it did before!  So much easier to see all the wonderful locks, keys and stories!!!!!  Here are the photo's of what it looked like before what it looks like now:
