151. Email From "Mailed Kit" Recipient

At the request of one of our studio-mates, I sent a kit to a friend of hers, who emailed her back with this note.  I thought it was worth sharing: 

"...........I got the locks and keys stuff in the mail from your friend. At first I was like "what the heck is this stuff" but I went on the blog and now I get it. VERY COOL!

So now I have to think of something meaningful and send it back. She sent two kits so I may ask Walter to write one out too.

Thanks for including me!"

150. Trying To Keep Track Of New Additions.....

It's getting harder and harder to find the new additions to the fence, so

I had to try to figure out a way to identify the already-been-photographed

pieces.  After brainstorming with Steve and Ginger, I ended up tying

a piece of yarn to every existing lock and/or key on the fence. Just a tad 

time consuming, but really worth it.  Not only did it add a little color,

but it should really make it easier to find the new ones!

Note: I did trim the yarn down a bit so it wasn't quite so obvious or distracting

but left enough to easily find the new ones.

here is a recent photo of the fence. If you haven't been

to our studio before, the double blue doors are ours,

and the big glass door leads to the 2nd floor where

 there are 3 more studios: Ginger Designs,

Helen's Handbags and JoLa Designs.

137. Updating a 10-26-10 On The Fence......

Ok, so when I originally posted this, I couldn't

figure out what it said, and when I was re-taping

it due to water damage this week,

it was glaringly obvious.....

136. Need Fixin'........

I had to pull 17 messages off the fence today. The rain was 

seeping in and onto the paper tags, and the writing

was starting to blur.  I've left them out to dry overnight

and hopefully they'll be ready to re-tape, and put 

back on the fence tomorrow.

I had the chance to dance with my grandfather.  I turned it down because i was embarrassed.  A week later he had a seizure & was paralyzed until he died.  I've always regretted not dancing with him.  Please dance with yours; for my sake.

I've had a GREAT response from my post and email about sending out kits to friends and family too far away to physically come to the fence to participate.  I'll be packing them today, and sending them out on Monday.  So far I've either already sent kits to or am sending kits to:

125. Story via Email 11-03-10

So, I remember first hearing your speak of this project and thought I had nothing to contribute...

I want to unlock my innocence and lock up my fear.
I want to free my heart and free my trust!
I am an adult survivor of childhood abuse by the hand of my father and I was kicked to the curb and abandoned by my mother.
I was a teenage mother having my son when I was 18.
I raised myself and made every bad decision possible.
When my son was 6(1998) my father tried to kill me....I hid at a battered womens shelter.
I asked his father for help, he hadn't helped before and being homeless I thought he might now....
He took my baby boy into his home but cut me completely out, ultimately legally stealing my child and then giving him to the state of CT.
I struggled for a while falling into a deep dark place.
In 2000 God gave me a baby girl...who saved me from myself.
So now...at 36 I am still a mess. My son just turned 18 and isn't in my life the way he should be.
I am all alone in this world w/ my daughter and I fear people, I don't trust and fear that at any minute I could lose what little I have.
Somewhere along the line I started just surviving and stopped living.
I would like to unlock my innocence so that I may enjoy life again.
I'd like to unlock the cage that has jailed my beaten self...I'd like to set her free so that I can embrace the woman I want to be today.
I want to let go of the past in a freeing healing way and grow into a stronger more vibrant woman and artist and mother.

If you have someone living outside of the Metrowest area, and know that they would like to participate, drop me an email, and I will send them the supplies to complete.  They can send their completed artwork back to me, and I can hang on the fence for them, or send to YOU and you can do thing hanging.
